Águilas is not in Almería but just over the border (5km) into the province of Murcia. It is well worth a visit, particularly if you are in close proximity (San Juan de los Terreros is only 9km from Águilas.

There is a very nice sea front with quaint bars and restaurants with good food everywhere. The town is interesting with many shops, bars etc. and the northern bay has a large harbour and also a marina and sailing club. There is also a new marina under construction at the extreme south of the town.

There is also plenty to see and do in and around the town and its bays.

The Carnival of February/March is a lively 2 week affair, culminating in a procession which lasts for over 5 hours. If visiting the carnival try the Cuerva - a drink designed to keep the carnival participants going strong over the long days without much rest or sleep.
