Casa Esendí is at Los Llanos on the Albox side of Arboleas. At only half an hours drive from the coast at Vera Playa, or San Juan de los Terreros, we are now some 300 metres above sea level.

The A334 road from Huércal Overa wends its way up the Almanzora Valley on its way to Baza in the Province of Granada. This valley is the heart of the marble industry with many quarries and factories along its route, particularly around Fines. There are also many orange and lemon groves in the area as well as olives, and, as you get higher up the valley, almond trees become more common.

Arboleas is a small village with few shops but is the administrative centre for a quite large area of land. There is a small, but colourful, market on Saturday mornings.

Its neighbour to the west, Albox, is the town where most of the commercial activity takes place. Here there are a plentiful supply of shops and a large market on Tuesdays each week.
