The provinces of Spain
Spain is made up of fifty provinces which are (now) mainly used for electoral and postal purposes. (Note! Only mainland Spain provinces are shown in the map above). Some of these provinces join with others to make up "Autonomous Communities", which are the main regional governing bodies. For example the 8 provinces of Almería, Cádiz, Córdoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaén, Málaga and Sevilla together form the Autonomous Community of Andalucía. There are 17 of these communities within the country seven of which comprise of one province only.
The purpose of this website is to provide an introduction to the province of Almería, and to give you some ideas of what to do, where to go, and where to stay should you ever decide to visit this beautiful part of Spain.
The province of Almería is situated in the south-east corner of Spain - signified by the letters AL in the map on the right.
On this site you will find information on all manner of things, including special events taking place around the province (and some a little further afield), and a little about some of the interesting places to visit. We hope that, within these pages, you find some useful information to make your visit more pleasurable.
