Human Rights
What in the hell is happening! I'm sure the world is going mad and, if we continue on this path, then we might just as well give up. The Human Rights campaigners are getting so stupid in their demands that the whole fabric of society is set to crumble.
When Human Rights were first talked about it was supposed to be to protect people from the atrocities which were suffered by many in the war. Nowadays it seems that it is anything that these short sighted people get into their heads.
The problem is that everything that is being brought about by these so called 'do gooders' is directly opposed to allowing the law abiding citizen to enjoy a peaceful and worry free existence.
We have reached a silly state of affairs where children sue their parents, prisoners claim compensation for loss of voting rights, teachers face legal action from pupils etc. etc.
When I first came to Spain and applied for residency I was issued with an identity card which carried my personal details and my fingerprints which were kept on file. This has now been taken away by the EU as it is a violation of my Human Rights! Bollocks! If I had my way everyone would have a DNA sample registered at birth and kept on file, everyone would carry an ID card and I would even go as far as chip implants for anyone who breaks the law. If you are an honest, law abiding citizen with nothing to hide then what is the problem with being traceable?
Wouldn't it be nice if crime was reduced to a minimum? The only way to do this is to make it harder for anyone to get away with a criminal act. DNA records would help. Identity cards would help. If prison was a deterrent then this too would help. Why can't we take away the 'Human Rights' of people who don't want to be 'Human' and make prison a place of suffering with no visitors, no entertainment, no communication instead of the criminal club it is today.
Whilst being firmly on the side of Human Rights I honestly believe that the Human Rights Movement is, and has been, the biggest single influence in the continuing downfall of society.
The problem is that there is no discrimination - Human Rights For All. Human Rights campaigners seem to insist that everyone has the same rights no matter what. It is my opinion that Human Rights should be earned and that certain individuals and groups around the world today simply do not qualify.
Don't get me wrong here. I am not suggesting that we should condone torture, slavery and other forms of indecencies, but we must apply some form of common sense which says 'those who violate the Human Rights of others in society are not entitled to any Human Rights of their own'.
We see far too many examples of people being punished for Human Rights offences who should be totally innocent of such accusations given the circumstances in which they were committed. This is not a black and white situation and must be viewed as such in all cases. For example, the person who attempts to commit violent crime in another persons home should not be protected if the violence 'backfires' and they get injured themselves.
Discipline is missing from all levels of society. When I was a lad I was physically punished if I broke the rules. It didn't do me any harm, and, whilst we must protect against gratuitous violence in such cases, it helped to set the boundaries inside which we all should live. If I was caught pinching apples from someones tree by the local policeman he gave me a clip round the ears. If I went home and told my parents what had happened it was highly likely that I would get another one. This was not against my Human Rights as I had violated someone elses, and therefore was not protected myself. I accepted and respected this.
Prison is no deterent. Human Rights campaigners complain of the conditions in prisons - overcrowding, the right to vote etc. If someone is sent to prison it is, most often, a punishment for violating the rules of society, so why should prisoners expect better treatment. Put them in prison with no visitors, no communication, no entertainment, no comfort for the full term of the sentence and then you might have something that makes the potential criminal think twice before violating the Human Rights of innocent, law abiding and peaceful citizens.
Well howdy pal! Just visited your site and never really realised what a whingeing lefty pinko you are!
Actually, I reckon you're pretty accurate: how can we expect a safe, secure societty if we handcuff the guardians of society with PC fetters? If someone has VOLUNTARILY stepped outside the law, how can it possibly be right for them to seek redress in any form within that law, by alleging, for example racial prejudice, police brutality, etc.?
Following any successful prosecution, such felons should then face further prosecution to recover any costs incurred investigating the alleged infringment of their "Human Rights".
Come the glorious day, the Human Rights legislators should be first against the wall.
